I have been privileged to work in secondary education for over 30 years, as part of leadership teams for 15 years, and with five years’ experience as the Headteacher of Lavington School. When I was appointed to the headship of Lavington School, I wanted to ensure the excellence continued to grow, and that it’s place in this rural community was part of a fantastic education offer for our families and children, whatever their age or background. I am extremely proud to be the CEO of Equa Multi Academy Trust. My aim is to work together with parents and professionals, to provide high quality nursery through to sixth form education, to enable students to truly thrive and be highly successful adults in a global society. This is a great opportunity to positively influence and enhance so many lives, and by working together, we can shape our children’s futures.
As an accountant by trade I entered the education sector nearly 20 years ago, with a passion to make a difference. I have worked in many sectors, including Further Education, Private Education, Nurseries and Academy Trusts. Working in Academies has allowed me to use my creative business flare to maximise income to benefit children and young people. I have a commitment to make effective use of public money and create efficiencies to increase funding available to invest in Teaching and Learning and use my experience to ensure the infrastructure is fit for purpose and an excellent environment to study and work. Further, I see my role is to relieve Senior Leaders and Governors in schools of the burden of business compliance to release their time to concentrate on the children and education. Being part of Equa enthuses me and its Vision and Values aligns with my core beliefs, that every child, regardless of background, regardless of skills and interests, should be given every chance to succeed and to work with a team that strives to achieve these values is inspiring.
School Improvement Lead
Becoming a teacher was no surprise to those who knew me as I grew up, and after having taught across the primary age range for 18 years, I took the role of Head Teacher at All Cannings at the start of 2009. The challenge to ensure our school strives to offer all children the very best chance for personal success, both whilst they are in our care and when they move on, is as true now as when I first started. Developing and working with a committed team, we have achieved a great deal together. Combining high levels of engagement with curriculum breadth and depth helps us to achieve the balance between strong outcomes and personal development. I am passionate that every child learns and discovers what matters. I have always believed that learning with others is the most effective way, both in terms of its impact and efficiency. Being part of EQUA, a MAT where shared values, genuine collaboration and the collective desire to make a real difference, ensures I continue to believe I have the best job in the world.
School Improvement Leadership Team - Headteacher of Chirton CofE Primary School and Equa Leader in Publicity and Able, Gifted and Talented
Having trained to become a teacher with our School Improvement Lead back in 2006-2007, I went on to become a leading practitioner at a large school in the County, where I quickly learnt about the importance of inclusive teaching for all and the rewarding nature of this profession, embedding a passion which I continue to carry with me today. After six years, I felt fully-prepared to take up a leadership role, and so, having been intrigued by a post at Chirton School working alongside my original mentor, I became the Associate Headteacher in September 2013. After six years of being part of a very successful federation with All Cannings School and Executive Headteacher, Richard Borman, the MAT came along at a time where our school was ready to take on more independent challenges as well as provide the opportunity for me to step into the role of Headteacher. Working within such a supportive and forward-thinking MAT, opportunities for collaboration continue to be at the forefront of our success; the children come first, no matter what, and it is this that inspires me to continue on my own learning journey each and every day, both in and outside the classroom.

I became a teacher by accident – my plan was to be an Educational Psychologist, however within the first few months of teacher training, I was hooked! My teaching career started at Corsham Primary Academy, where I taught for over 10 years across Key Stage 2. Whilst there, I was one of a team of 5 experienced teachers sent to set up a collaborative fresh start in a school in special measures. We moved the school from special measures, to satisfactory and then good, within one academic year. My role in the latter 3 years as a teacher was as Teaching & Learning Leader, supporting more than 16 teachers. I then took the role of Headteacher at Bulford St Leonard’s Primary in 2010. Again this school was on the verge of special measures. There was incredible challenge in building a strong leadership team, raising standards and improving teaching across the school, whilst dealing with very high levels of mobility; but it was challenge we embraced. During this Headship we formed Salisbury Plain Multi Academy Trust and I quickly realised the importance and strength of collaboration, both for pupil outcomes and staff development. I have been in my current role at Rushall Primary since April 2018 and feel very privileged to be able to continue the job I feel passionate about, whilst working with such dedicated and experienced colleagues across the MAT.
